This treatment is provided for children from 2 weeks after birth to elementary school age. It involves non-invasive acupuncture techniques that focus on gentle rubbing or touching of the skin. (As children grow, depending on the condition and situation, more traditional acupuncture methods may also be applied.)
The advantages include **no pain** and **no medication**. Sessions are short, typically around 5 to 15 minutes.
A variety of tools with different lengths and stimulation intensities are used in treatment.
Today, disposable needles and several standard types of pediatric tools are commonly used.
Why Does Pediatric Acupuncture Help?
Infants and children are often more sensitive than adults. Even minor changes in temperature or environment, which adults may not notice, can cause stress in children—leading to issues such as night crying, tantrums, atopic dermatitis, or asthma.
Because children are so sensitive, **even gentle stimulation can produce meaningful effects**.
Our approach is not just about treating visible symptoms. We conduct a thorough assessment—asking questions such as: What’s happening? Where is it happening? Is it due to a deficiency (Kyo) or excess (Jitsu)?
Treatment focuses on balancing the flow of “Qi” (energy) in the body, viewing the body as a whole system.
